About Me

I’m a Wannabe screenwriter/ novelist from Westminster, MD. That’s about 3000 miles away from the movie biz in L.A. and about 200 miles from the literary action in New York. I can’t and won’t move to either place as I’ve made a happy home here in Maryland with my wonderful husband and two kids. I have a day job as a paralegal in an immigration law firm.

I’ve been pursuing my passion of screenwriting since 1994. In 2009, I wrote my first novel. I consider myself a Wannabe because I have not yet had my big break. However, I’m fortunate that I’ve had enough small successes to feel that I do have some degree of talent. I’ve had two screenplays optioned by production companies in Los Angeles. Another screenplay was a finalist in a small but national screenwriting competition. It’s still too soon to tell whether or not I have any talent as a novelist.

What I do have is passion.

There are lots of ups and downs in the life of any Wannabe. Some days bring the exhilaration of success, while others are full of rejection and heartbreak. I started this website because I wanted to reach out to Wannabes everywhere. I think we have a lot to learn from each other. A writer can learn a lot from an actor, a stand-up comic can learn from a singer’s experiences, and so forth. So, if you’re a Wannabe and you’re looking for a place where you can get a brutally honest critique of your works in progress:

Keep looking. You won’t find that here.

As Wannabe artists, it is VITAL that we all find one or more honest but constructive critics who can tell us the truth about our work. We all need that if we want to actually have a shot at making our dream come true. If you don’t have such a critic in your life – an editor, an acting partner, a mentor – then GO get one. And then when they tear you apart in an effort to make your work better, come back to WannabePride. Browse the articles, read the blogs, and remember that you’re not the only one going through the struggle. The goal of WannabePride is to provide encouragement and inspiration for Wannabes everywhere.

Be brave. Pursue your dream. Put your work out there to get critiqued. And when you get rejected, I’ll be your shoulder to cry on.

And when you make it big, I’ll proudly say I KNEW YOU WHEN….
